Now I will never be able to talk about golf or fishing in a decent way :-p
so i was just reading a thread and came across a completely new jw 'rule', that of not being allowed to go fishing!..
at least it's new to me as i always enjoyed fishing as did others in my old congregation.
anyone else heard of this or had this imposed on them in they're jw lives?.

given recent posts on the forum and discussion, maybe we could play this game: would i lie to you?
in the uk we have this tv programme where minor celebrities tell weird or embarrassing stories about themselves and the rest of the participants have to guess if it is a true story or made up.
when the others have voted then the person reveals if the story is true or false.
Okay I'll bite with some less embarrassing stories:
hi simon,.
thanks for maintaining this forum.. i use this site almost exclusively on my android phone and tablet.. there are 2 annoying issues there:.
search doesn't work.
@Simon,
Did you change anything with regards to the edit function? It works now, and AFAIK nothing changed on my side.
i've studied and observed several lottery patterns.
this one is now gone so nothing lost by revealing it.
i had a certain history search and noticed that almost each week the past few months a list of numbers not used recently were being used 1 per week.
many people tend to see patterns in data when in fact there are none.
We are wired that way.
Leaves rustle, so it must be a predator! Run (and survive and pass your pattern seeking genes to next generation).
We exist, so the must be a creator! Pray (and stop thinking and pass your idiot ideas to next generation as truth).
People not understanding true randomness, and wanting to see patterns everywhere is the one reason prayer 'works'.
Also, loteries are for evil greedy people. I know coz the FDS told me so!
so since leaving the borg i've made quite a few stupid mistakes, hurting myself a lot..but i finally feel like i've learned and i think, in time, i'll find my happiness again...even more happiness that i could've ever had being a jw.. but my question to you guys is, what was your experience like leaving the borg?
did you struggle at all?
how long have you been out?
@Fiiddler,
There is hope for your daughter!
I was so proud that I endured all that shit, shunned half of them, and stayed in the truth! Yay strong me!
I was the only of 4 children who was still in.
My family never pressured me (looking by, my mother and my sister both tried very gently to tell me TTATT once, but that didn't work back then). And now I figured it out all by myself.
Everybody happy ;-D (except my wife and still-in-laws)
it has been extensively reported on the forum that there has been a marked increase in effort over the past two years by the governing body of jehovah's witnesses to encourage an increase in monetary donations.
this has also been accompanied by the stripping of financial capital from the local congregations.
as has also been reported on this forum, this has in all probability been done to facilitate the financing of the vast new hq building project as well as the financing of the shift from a publishing company to becoming an internet based charismatic multimedia company which produces lame pixar/disney animation knock offs while simultaneously parading the governing body's ever expanding waistlines, blingy accoutrements and stupid grins.. meanwhile the financials of the organization remains as murky as ever.
our former spiritual Amway
Loool :-D
here in the uk new drinking guidelines have been issued which suggest "no more than 14 units a week - equivalent to six pints of beer or seven glasses of wine.".
another piece of the advice which is getting a lot of attention is that "if people drink, it should be moderately over three or more days and that some days should be alcohol-free.".
already people are making cries of "nanny state!
That's one reason I became a JW these people really love the wine, that's the religion for me.
So true. A converted sister (not born in I mean) in our cong. always commented on how every JW who visits brings booze or wine. She couldn't drink fast enough to decrease her stockpile. She never experienced that with them godless worldly people. (Well maybe it's her fault - slow drinker)
@FMF, South Florida....hmm that's only 2 hours by train and then a 9 hour (maybe 10?) flight for me :-p
But maybe my job sends me to Boca Raton some day (branch over there)....

I'm with FMF,
A couple beers every night until in my 30, switched to much less beer, and have few wines instead.
Now it's whiskey straight up, but I limit myself to 1 or 2 small glasses on weekends only. And holidays. And events. And when I deserve it.
My only coffee habit is espresso (pref. double) after diner.
Now them cigars look promising, but my still in wife will leave me the minute I buy one....so FMF where do you live? I'll come over for the weekend ;-)
as i mentioned in another post i used to serve as an elder for 2 decades.
i was involved in a number of jc.
some i dealt with are good friends now.
@FreeMindFade,
Interesting quote in that image...where is it from?
@Tenacious,
Nice post!
@Cognac,
To clear up what you possibly misunderstood:
You seem to understand from the OP that he didn't like dubs lied to him during JCs?
But his point was that some people lied about their JC after it took place, and discredited the Borg and the JC with lies in newspapers.
Hence the question: how honest are apostates?
Anyway y'all already kissed and made up :-)
ok so most of you guys know already that i am going through the reinstatement process for my parents but i do have a partially sinister plan which i will not mention here since someone told me that there are b-lites that read boards like this.
last night and it was the funniest experience i have ever seen.
besides that the brother doing the sound and video screwed up the whole thing when showing the videos and it took 3 brothers to fix it after 10 minutes, the whole thing was a joke.
Nice post. I'm almost tempted to join my wife for the meeting tonight
